Hotel is really nice and clean. Great location to downtown Detroit venues. The rooms are a tad small, but tastefully decorated and have everything you need. The only issue with room itself was the water pressure was very low. The customer service fail was when we had issues with a non working remote for our tv. It was 10pm and we wanted to get ready for bed. We called downstairs 3 times. the first 2 calls, we were told that maintenance was on their way up to "recalibrate" it. We asked if it was something we could do ourselves with instructions, but were told "No, maintenance has to do it". We made the 3rd call about an hour after our 1st call. Someone new answered and said there was a shift change and they weren't told about our issue. They checked and said there was no maintenance person available. We were then told that we should talk to the manager in the morning. We tried to discuss it as we were checking out the next day. We were told "You booked through Expedia, take it up with them". A broken remote isn't the end of the world. But waiting over an hour, while having the hosts tell you twice that someone was "on their way" and then after all that, being told "We don't have maintenance here right now" was disappointing to say the least. Besides having the first receptionist lie about someone being on their way up, when you pay over $200 for a room, you should be able to use the amenities advertised when you booked it.

Be cautious of any place that describes themselves as "boutique"

"Boutique hotel" which means they have dim lighting, funky furniture and loud music in the lobby and bar. Check-in was appalling: we waited 15 min before anyone even came to the reception desk. Tried calling them but it went straight to hold music. The thermostats in the rooms are just for show: they control the heating/cooling centrally and it is always either too hot or too cold. The building is old, the rooms are laughably tiny and lacking closets or any place to unpack. I had two tiny slits for "windows" and zero ventilation. If you are young and hip this might be the place for you but if you are looking for a decent hotel with proper climate control, a place to hang your clothes and a room that you can turn around in, this shouldn't be your first choice. The one redeeming feature was the Candy Bar. The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were great. The let down was the LOUD MUSIC that made it nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. Again, if you are under 30 and like clubbing, you'll dig this place but if you are a grown-up, you would be better off at a more traditional hotel.

It has great ambiance that's for sure. However my room was cold all the time, the valet staff was rude and unhelpful, and the restaurants were mediocre. Note that the parking offered is valet only and it was $42 a day while I stayed there. That's something I would've liked to know beforehand. No microwave or fridge in the room or available anywhere is crazy. No hot water or coffee in the room either. If I would have known these things I would not have stayed here. Probably my fault for not checking but I found the experience annoying, and after realizing all the extra unexpected costs I would incur I would not return to this hotel.

A comfortably intimate hotel where we felt well attended to. The staff were friendly and paid close attention to our needs. I'm a light sleeper, and I slept well, which says a lot for a hotel, believe me. We'll stay at the Siren again.

The hotel is gorgeous, staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are simple, but stylish. Our heat didn't work in our room and when told maintenance would come check it out, they instead had left for the evening. We were offered a room change or space heater. We opted for the room change and were put into an accessible room. I am not disabled, but my son is, and had he been travelling with me or an adult travelling on his own, this room would not have been suitable. The cost of the hotel overnight on a weekend night puts it well above value. I'd visit for their bar and cafe/diner again in the future, but I don't think I would stay overnight again unless some changes were made. In addition, the rooms are small and there is a huge tv on the wall right next to the bed and the blue standby light kept me awake. I'm not one to complain about stays, but for the cost of the hotel, these hiccups should have been avoided.
